ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. If your vehicle features pre-collision warnings, automatic braking, or lane keep assist, a camera is mounted directly behind your windshield. Replacing the glass shifts this camera slightly. Recalibration ensures these systems continue to detect lane lines and emergency situations with accuracy.
As a rule of thumb, stone chips smaller than a Canadian loonie coin and not directly in the driver's line of sight can be repaired. If a crack has run or expanded, or if the glass is pitted with dozens of small impacts, a full replacement is required for structural safety.
